The Loss Prevention and Safety Manager works closely with the Director of Sales and Operations and other executives to formulate and manage the Occupational Health and Safety and Loss Prevention functions to deliver value added service to all stratum levels that reflect the business objectives. Develops loss prevention policies and procedures to safeguard Company assets and conducts investigations regarding violations of Company policy and causes of inventory shrink across all Caribbean and South Pacific based operational banners. Promote a healthy and safe work environment by developing, coordinating, and implementing preventative safety policies and programs. This role is responsible for monitoring Workers Compensation claims and being the liaison between the organizations and supporting vendor relationships. The role is responsible for reviewing legislative requirements making corresponding company policy recommendations.

Key Accountabilities:
- Develops and implements efficient and effective loss prevention and programs, policies, and procedures to safeguard assets of the company and safety of employees and all its subsidiaries.
- Provides guidance and training on loss prevention policies and procedures, including training on the effective use of loss prevention equipment (CCTV, EAS, Alarm systems).
- Negotiates contracts for all 3rd party services and loss prevention equipment (CCTV, EAS, alarm systems) and provides direction on the installation.
- Reviews, investigates, and reports on the causes of inventory shrinkage and safety incidents with recommendations and action plans to address the causes.
- Audits and monitors compliance with legislation, local safety laws, Company policies and procedures and conducts investigations as required and informs business lead of imminent changes and makes recommendations for action.
- Provide day-to-day advice, counsel and guidance to line managers and employees as they navigate through employee incidents, questions, processes, policies and procedures.
- Oversees all, and may conduct investigations on, theft and integrity issues and provides coaching and direction as required.
- Track workers compensation claims, sick leave/LTD claims, light duty agreements, return to work programs and develop proactive plans to reduce employee incident claims experience/costs.
- Inspect and evaluate workplace environments and practices as required to ensure loss prevention and safety best practices are adhered to in all Cost.U.Less locations.
- Create and execute a comprehensive loss prevention and safety operations plan that minimizes organizational risk and maximizes business performance.
- Develop metrics, analyze, and report results accompanied with strategies to drive change.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field.
- Or Bachelor's degree in related discipline and a minimum of 4 years Occupational Safety/Loss Prevention work experience, preferably in a retail environment
- Master's degree in Safety related discipline preferred.
- 3 years or more of multi- legislative experience in a retail or supply chain setting, preferably in a multi-site environment
- First aid/CRP/AED certified preferred
- Understanding of state and federal laws associated with Health and Safety.
- Understanding of loss prevention best practices.
- Direct experience assessing training needs, creating training materials to fulfill those needs, and then delivering the training
- Experience developing and implementing programs designed to reduce accidents, injuries, shrink and costs associated with Workers Compensation
- Proficient in database management, MS Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint.
- Ability to travel to the Caribbean and South Pacific regions.
- Solid interpersonal and persuasion skills.

Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift 50lbs unassisted
- Working conditions include temperature changes with travel, warehouse environments, retail store and office environments.
- International travel on (including but not limited to) planes, automobiles, buses, water vessels.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk as required when traveling, site visits, and office days.
- Travel approximately 50% (+/-) depending on needs of locations/projects
