In your role as the Designer, at The North West Company (NWC), you will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external consultant teams towards ideation and development of store design.

Your Role:
Plan, develop and design retail facilities to ensure maximum program efficiencies and that designs meet The North West Company’s corporate standards;
Develop and design interior and exterior plans and architectural elevations - including décor, color treatments, and materials of stores for all banners;
Generate professional facility requirement drawings, final design sets and design specifications for consultants, tradesmen and installers;
Participates in preparation of project scope while adhering to project schedules in conjunction with project management team;
Monitors project design scope through the lifecycle of a project (renovation / new build)
Help source new finishes, fixtures, & equipment to support our various NWC retail programs
Skills and Qualifications:
3+ years working in a design or architectural office is required
Previous retail (or chain store) space planning and design is an asset;
Post-Secondary Degree (preferably in Interior Design or Architecture);
Graphic design experience is considered as an asset;
Must be proficient in AutoCAD &/or Revit and possess experience with other design-related and graphic applications such as Twin Motion & Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop);
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is a requirement;
Knowledge of general retail principles, consumer trends, customer segmentation and customer flow patterns an asset;
Ability to work as a team member and work collaboratively on a common vision;
Must be highly motivated and organized, ability to plan and prioritize;
Ability to maintain high degree of accuracy with details & timelines;
Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills with an aptitude for negotiation, building and maintaining business relationships; and,
Must be able to work independently and be able to coordinate and advise a diverse global team.
